The News Tribune on Letterman's Small Town News

Sitting here watching David Letterman and his Small Town News bit.  First my ears perk up for Langley, WA and some Whidbey newspaper.  I thought oh cool.  And then the very next one was from The News Tribune in Tacoma, WA.  It was a job posting in the classifieds under the Labor section.  It was an advertisement for a fork lift operator, and the very first word in the description of the job was supposed to be warehouse, but it was misspelled to say "whorehouse."

Dave and Paul had a chuckle about why a whorehouse would need a fork lift operater.  :)

I suspect the misspelling was intentional to draw readers to the ad. Kind of a fun 15 minutes of fame.

Wasn't just in the Trib, either.

I don't know who wrote this...

Ode to a spell checker
Eye have a spelling chequer,
It came with my Pea Sea.
It plainly marques for my revue,
Miss Steaks aye can knot sea.
Eye strike a quay and type a whirred
And weight four it two say,
Weather eye am wrong oar write,
It shows me strait a weigh.
As soon as the misses ache is maid,
It nose before two long,
And aye can put the error rite
Its rare lea ever wrong.
Eye have run this poem threw it,
I am sure your pleased to no,
Its letter perfect awl the weigh,
My chequer tolled me sew.
