Take your art to the street! Literally.I have a plan. A p-a-l-n plan (quick, what movie?). I would like to invite all the Frost Park Chalk Champions to participate in a one day, no holds barred, sudden death chalk challenge at the Tacoma Urban Art Festival on Sunday June 29th in Fireman's Park. I have been given an entire intersection to play with and would like to invite anyone who has been crowned "Best Illustrator in the Universe of Tacoma" up through June 27th to participate.
Prizes are still being accumulated, but currently include gift certificates to Pacific Grill and Masa or Asado.
So.... wadda ya say? You in?

|I am not a champion, and don't expect to have become one by then, but it sounds like a swell idea.|

|I'd be down for a giant collaborative effort between chalkies (champions or otherwise)...
A no time limit intersection wide chalk mural by Frost Parkers.
I compete with some of the greatest illustrators in the universe...it would be nice for once to put aside our chalk six shooters and come together in one big chalk love in.
Not at all what you had in mind, but that is my two cents.

I sure some people might show up.
Can you give us more details such as the time and how the winner would be chosen? One thing you could do is have people vote who show up there by putting on the sticker dots like they had at farmers market, by ballot, or a dreaded jury.

|I'd so be down with that. I had wanted to participate in the Urban Art Festival this year, but my schedule will be rather unpredictable for at least another month; I didn't want to invest money in a booth space if I wasn't sure I could attend.
I'd love to participate in the Festival in some way - this sounds like a good idea!

|Wonderful! The festival technically starts at noon but I was thinking I'd push the chalk out a bit so we have a chance for a crowd (not that you do this for the fame, of course).
Would you all be more interested in a collaboration piece? I'm not sure how to give out prizes if this is the case but if you're not doing it for the prizes....... ;-)
Meh, we'll make it work. I welcome your input.

Pacific Grill should be able to throw in something substantial.
I'm Mandi. I've lived in the Tacoma area my whole life and I love it. I'm not a very prolific blogger but I do what I can.
