Cheap, warm, late night eateries
Ever since the closing of the One Heart Cafe, the Tacoma French Club has been searching for a place to meet before (or after) attending films at the Grand Cinema. Anyone have any ideas?
The French Club is a nice group of people, a mix of professionals, expatriates, students, people who love to travel, etc. We meet regularly at the Mad Hat, Mandolin, NPCC and various places for other events, but it's been difficult to find late night, casual, comfortable eateries in downtown Tacoma.
A lot of good places close at 7 pm or earlier. Something like El Gaucho's is too far away and too pricey. The Mandolin has music, and Mad Hat is a little far. I was hoping maybe the Blackwater Cafe would work, but it seems to close at 7 pm on Fridays also.
On the wish list would be:
- Stays open to 8 pm (9 or 10 pm would be great) on Fridays
- Within 10 min. walking distance of the Grand (6th & Fawcett)
- Has food & beverages around the $5-$15 range
- Works for conversation/talking
- Can hold a group of 15-25 without us messing up your vibe
Merci in advance for any suggestions.

|Have you tried the Over The Moon Cafe? I've never been in, so I can't speak for how well it will hold your group, or how the food is, but the location is good. According to their website, last seating is at 9.

|Hob Nob? PSP on a non-karaoke night? The Hub?|

|Yeah, the Hub's got oodles of room. Since they are concerned with how late places are open on Fridays, PSP will not be the place to go, as Friday is always karaoke night.|

|Thank you very much, I'll check those out. I like the Hub, I'll have to stop by to see what the noise level is like on Fridays.
I was hoping after the Blackwater moves, they will have a little more room and maybe stay open later? I'd love to meet there from time to time, they have a great ambiance.
I've also spoken with Shakabrah Java, I'm hoping they might work if/when they expand hours. It's more of a drive than walk, but it could still work.

|If you find a place please let us know on the blog. C.L.A.W. has been searching for a meeting place as well.
