The $2,700,000.00 Dollar City Manager Eric Anderson Memorial Parking Lot Ribbon Cutting Memorial

Proclamation from the Feed Tacoma Citizen's Auxiliary City Council

Greetings from the future! We're glad you made it.

I am R.R. Anderson, recently appointed by the people to represent the HYPERSPACE district on the Citizen's Auxiliary City Council.  We are gathered here in virtual reenactment form to bless this surface parking lot in the memory of a fallen comrade, Father Eric Anderson..

Commemorating the Hyper-Expensive Eric Anderson Memorial Shrubbery

please rise for the ribbon cutting speech (seriously get out of your goddamn chair).

Since this is a virtual, non linear space... Kevin would you like to do the honors again, but for the first time?

Running with the Scissors of Destiny
another speech but now from Kevin:

good now let's get going, many more speeches and ribbon cuttings to make!

  Kevin and RR Anderson
and... don't for get these ultra-attractive auxiliary council members ! You see kids, we live in a virtual world where anything is fucking possible. It's the future damn it! If you were there that day, and you were never a special person, you are a special person now. YOU LITERALLY ARE #WINNING THE FUTURE! which also means you are losing the Anti-Future.

Protest in Real Time We're not making up the news... Tacoma Daily Index front page

So go in today... head over to the human resources department... 13th floor of CITY HALL and sign the goodbye cards to Eric Anderson, city manager.... OR you can be AWESOME by signing the parking lot itself in chalk. IT'S SO THE FUTURE, EVEN PUPPETS/KOOLKATS ARE DOING IT!

Gritz and Shifty the Grit City Kitties

so long fuck face! Eric Anderson Memorial Parking Lot Plaque

see more of this incredible envelope of fists tumbling down your optic nerve from INTREPID FIELD PHOTOJOURNALIST KEVIN F.   also thank you Tacoma Daily Index for covering this ERIC ANDERSON MEMORIAL PARKING LOT RIBBON CUTTING conceptual art event

- LIKE freedom isn't free... free parking lot parking isn't free.  You, the citizen will have to start paying for these parking stalls... but not if you're DaVita right?   I mean, you the tax payer already paid for everything... but now you gotta pay to play. Dig?

Via the Weekly Volcano:

Mello and Boe: “Just what Tacoma needs, another parking lot”

"Here we have a site that has alley access that's right off the 705 exit, (with) an entrance onto 705 a half block away, a light rail station a block away, a convention center and a hotel," observes Boe. "This place is screaming out for development. This is an urban design crime."

The city manager answers to the city council.

Criticism of the parking lot more properly belongs to the city council than to the city manager. If we are to learn anything from this event we will have to learn the names of the council members who voted aye. IMO

by Crenshaw Sepulveda on 7/21/2011 @ 7:48am
fredo, your dream of stacking the city council with Tea Party is just that, a dream, not going to happen in Tacoma. The city council's response to Eric Anderson was, "You're fired".

by NineInchNachos on 7/21/2011 @ 7:56am
Thanks Marty, Boe and Mello for fighting Urban Design Crime!

by fredo on 7/21/2011 @ 8:00am
The council rejected Anderson's proposal to waste $700,000 state development money on a parking lot? I wasn't aware of that, sorry crenshaw.

correction: "Eric Anderson Memorial PERMIT ONLY Parking Lot"

by NineInchNachos on 7/21/2011 @ 8:11am
can somebody get a pic of a permit on one of the autos? is it DaVita branded?

by ixia on 7/21/2011 @ 8:22am
Who is hiring republic to service the lot? Who is paying the bill for that?

by NineInchNachos on 7/21/2011 @ 9:07am

UPDATE: I spoke with City of Tacoma parking manager David Carr this morning and the item will be removed from the July 26 agenda and will likely appear on the Aug. 2 agenda, after the city's parking facilities manager returns from vacation. If you hurry, you can still see the supporting docs here (pages 10-13).

Also, he confirmed that as per Dick McKinley's memo included in the request for resolution, Republic Parking Northwest receives a management fee of 1.5 percent of net revenue at the lot. Of the approximately $60,000 in anticipated yearly revenue, $900 represents Republic's management fee of 1.5% of net revenues.

by ixia on 7/21/2011 @ 11:33am
The lot is restricted to DaVitaistas during daytime and free evenings and weekends, how will it generate 60,000? Out if thin air?

by The Jinxmedic on 7/21/2011 @ 12:00pm
My proposed parking fee is $750.00 for the first two hours, and $1500.00 for all day on weekends. These parking fees would be assessed much like a fine, with the bill being sent to the registered owner of the motor vehicle. That should help generate the appropriate revenue.

by fredo on 7/21/2011 @ 3:15pm
"Of the approximately $60,000 in anticipated yearly revenue, $900 represents Republic's management fee of 1.5% of net revenues." TDI

They're going to send somebody down from their office to collect the cash proceeds and they're going to provide this service for less than 3 dollars a day? I don't believe it.

Who has the keys to the cash collection box and how do the taxpayers know the cash is being counted correctly?

by cisserosmiley on 7/21/2011 @ 3:19pm
$900...thats chicken feed...eric anderson made $900 every day

by NineInchNachos on 7/25/2011 @ 11:42am
the sucking chest wound that keeps giving...

by Erik on 7/25/2011 @ 12:42pm
Tacoma City Council is scheduled to vote Tuesday on a purchase resolution that would direct an additional $90,000 toward a new parking lot that was recently completed on the former Sauro's Cleanerama site in downtown Tacoma.

The TDI posts make your Tacomics seem mild in comparison!

by Crenshaw Sepulveda on 7/25/2011 @ 1:00pm
You have to watch out when they say "net" revenue. How big is the net and who's being caught in it. I'm sure it is "net" revenue after expenses by Republic. I'm betting that Republic ends up with a nice pile of money if this lot generates any net revenues or not.

by fredo on 7/25/2011 @ 2:24pm
but but but Crenshaw...the representative from the city of Tacoma said Republic will make $900 per year. If you don't start towing the party line we will have to place you in the re-education camp again.

by NineInchNachos on 7/25/2011 @ 2:56pm

That's the deal with public art.
Once it's out in the elements
it's out of your hands and
into the care of the Universe
Consider it ascended
into the heavens
of our collective memory.

Truly a great work. Hats off to you, Mr. Anderson.

by NineInchNachos on 9/23/2011 @ 3:31pm
that's beautiful man.

by Jesse on 9/23/2011 @ 4:22pm
Love the sign! You should make another one for the Luzon site.

by Dave_L on 9/24/2011 @ 10:57am
That's an AWESOME sign!
Jesse - I spotted this the other day at the Luzon site:

As the Captain above says, once it's out there, it's out there and unfortunately stuff hasn't been lasting very long these days.

by L.S.Erhardt on 9/24/2011 @ 11:40am
If one uses a few hundred pounds of cement to keep one's art in place, it'll last longer.
Not indefinitely, but certainly more than just a couple of hours.
