|Wrongo there RR.|
The average Joe is going to gets lots of benefits should Russell stay in Tacoma including:
1) An "upgraded" Tollefson Plaza
2) Clean up of the blighted Sauro site:
3) "Public Art" improvements
Those are all things Joe can enjoy every day!
Check out the whole list here:
Plus, some of the Frost Park chalkies work at Russell!

|those are all things that should be fixed anyhow. Why does it have to be in the name of keeping FR?|

|not to be a negative nancy or anything... I suppose i'm just on Russell burnout. Will they stay? Will they go? at this point I am secretly wishing they will move to Seattle, and after it's revealed they're atop another Ponzi pyramid and the CEO's are arrested trying to flee the country on a 747... the company declares bankruptcy.|

|"The average Joe is going to gets lots of benefits should Russell stay in Tacoma..."
Those are all things that we should get anyway. None of it should hinge on The Frank Russell Co. staying or going.
We should never negotiate with terrorists. Even if they are wearing wingtips.

|I am afraid I am also a big skeptic on this one. Doesn't really make sense right now to hang hopes on the financial services industry, and really Russell knows that, too. Tacoma ought to know better.|

|I have found most Russell people that I have encountered arrogant and miserly. For example trying to beat me down on the price of an original piece of artwork (not mine) that was $35! |
Then there was the time when I asked if their visiting corporate executives might consider staying in one of my condos - Russell reply: "no, it is in a bad neighborhood" - (yeah, along with their corporate headquarters!)
I know that they have also tried to beat local businesses like Meconi's and Vin Grotto down on prices for large private parties, parties that usually involve closing the restaurant to the public during the event.
On the other hand I know for a fact that if Russell left Tacoma it would have a big impact in my neighborhood. The five new restaurants that have come in within the past six years would be significantly impacted financially - some of them make more money on their lunch income than the dinner crowd. Guess who primarily makes up the lunch crowd around here - Russell employees.
I think it is too late to turn back on the Tacoma/Russell relationship dynamic. Once the original City ass-kissing fest began, for now it can't be reversed. The best we can do as Tacoma citizens, I think is just sit back and watch.
All of this blather is just my opinion.
However, if the City elects to help one business, they should help others, especially the small struggling ones that have had the guts to invest downtown. When the City tears up the streets or has special week-end events (for which they only have to pay a $20 fee to restrict/eliminate surrounding parking spaces or access to your own apartment in my case), or shoots car commercials that virtually halt business activity in the area that is closed off, businesses should be compensated - Especially when the City expects those same businesses to pony up for the LIDs, which I do think are beneficial for everyone - businesses and the city.

|I work right next door to Russell at TrueBlue and I feel as though we do our part also in the local downtown bars and restaurants. Sometimes it feels like Meconi's is a TrueBlue bar.
Plus, a LOT of Russell employees come to TrueBlue's Mountain View Cafe for lunch and they are always very nice and polite when in our building.
I hope Russell stays in downtown Tacoma.

|You really have to love Russell and TrueBlue (LaborReady) man have they done a lot to make downtown the booming place it is.|

|Sell off Russell and keep it in Tacoma. Let NW Mutual part out the old WAMU tower and cash in on that investment.

RR Anderson is one of the most curious characters in the UFO lore and the history of underground cartooning. He fought bizarre underground beings in the caves of Alaska, was wounded by a laser before it was invented, and had a background with the clandestine branch of the Tacoma Cartoonists Society.
