by ElectricElliot on 6/11/2008 @ 8:45pm | Honestly, I think that would be a great idea. I'd be happy to help make it happen. |
by NineInchNachos on 6/11/2008 @ 8:56pm | Thanks Electric Elliot! |
by jamesstoweart on 6/11/2008 @ 9:03pm | Oh God.
I totally grew up obsessively glued to PBS' The Secret City with Commander Mark. He is honestly one of the major reasons I do what I do. I hear his mustachioed voice chanting in my skull almost daily... "Draw, Draw, Draw... Practice drawing very day." If there is room in the Post Apocalyptic Starship Kalakala I would serve as a dutiful member of the beleaguered crew. I'd be a fat Zebtron, a bald Chewbacca or better yet a hopelessly white Lando Calrissian. I need some swede boots and a velour half cape. In a weird bit of trivia I actually attended some youth drama classes with the actor that portrayed Zebtron on The Secret City. |
by NineInchNachos on 6/11/2008 @ 9:09pm | Stowe.. you think I wanted to be a web designer when I grew up? No way! I wanted to be Commander Mark. ![]() (its the orange art jumpsuit) I'm sure there is room on the KalaKala for you :) draw squad! www.drawsquad.com/ |
by WaywardScooterGirl on 6/11/2008 @ 9:18pm | uh, Stowe??? Youth drama? |
by NineInchNachos on 6/12/2008 @ 9:16am | Stowe has a great stage presence. Have you seen the ElectricElliot chalk video? |
by droid116 on 6/12/2008 @ 9:49am | Awesome. I may have to chalk again, drawing the symmetrical hanging fern pot with the really, really heavy duty chain. |
by thriceallamerican on 6/12/2008 @ 10:06am | Booyah!
Jordi LaForge rocks the house on the Reading Rainbow. (But you don't have to take my word for it! --sing along-- da-DUM-DUM!!!) And Commander Mark...loved that stuff. Sort of disappointed that none of the clips featured the "shade shade shade" song... Gabba Gabba Hey is WAAAY after my time, and I lack the level of television service now that would allow me to watch it, so no comments on that... Maybe I'll dig up some clips on the net sometime to figure out what the buzz is all about. |
by NineInchNachos on 6/12/2008 @ 11:08am | Yo Gabba Gabba is new and founded by the greatest California ska band in the world: The Aquabats... specifically the leader of The Aquabats... MC BAT COMMANDER (Very inspirational story). |
by thriceallamerican on 6/12/2008 @ 11:14am | Ahem, sorry for bastardizing the show name...though I'm assuming there's a reference in there somewhere. |
by NineInchNachos on 6/12/2008 @ 11:28am | No Worries mr. thrice,
it's free thinking folks like you who keep THE CONSPIRACY at bay on this world I like to call EARTH-PRIME. |
by marumaruyopparai on 6/16/2008 @ 12:02am | Commander Mark truly is a figure of historical significance, it's good to see him getting the recognition he deserves here. Those are pretty big boots to fill but I'm pretty sure RR could put his own impressive spin on the live-action televised drawing instruction format, I would tune into that. . .what I really want to know is where you found the open source eight-bit music, IT'S AWSOME!!! (I'm listening to it right now. |
by NineInchNachos on 6/16/2008 @ 8:57am | the internet archive! you can find all kinds of audio delights there.
Where else can you find Edison phonograph recordings of famous civil war music? 8-bit electronica and 50's futurist propaganda all in the same place? www.archive.org/ |

RR Anderson is one of the most curious characters in the UFO lore and the history of underground cartooning. He fought bizarre underground beings in the caves of Alaska, was wounded by a laser before it was invented, and had a background with the clandestine branch of the Tacoma Cartoonists Society.
