The Melon Online Audio Love
Last Monday The Melon had an opposite of live interview with Pierce County Councilman Tim Farrell. Tim outlined his first term as a councilman: his highs, his lows, and everything in between. We discussed a possible bid for mayor of Tacoma, instant-run-off voting, the future of transportation and mainstream work-culture in Washington State

|Interesting. Farrell said he sees the "end of Suburbia."
With $4.40/gallon gas prices, the Realtors (TM) manta of "drive till you can afford" may no longer be true.

Tim's run for mayor may be somewhat related to how the term limits removal ballot measure goes.
If it passes, there will be a number of city council members who could run for mayor who may not without it.
Councilman Tim Farrell: Friend of Downtown Tacoma?
The county has done little but build one ever more remote suburban subdivision after another and created an unsustainable spawlish train wreck in the county. All draining county resources and encouraging disinvestment in Tacoma.
Thus, the winner for county executive is going to be pretty critical for Tacoma.
Running the county certainly takes another "skillset" than running a city. Yet, Tim is greatly improving his urban skills lately having consulted with Kunstler and Boe.
