heck did you know Stadium Video had a newsletter?  Me neither.  Sometimes I wish I was on their newsletter list.

Mysterious fluids

most people would be intimidated by the mysterious black fluid dripping from the ceiling of their beloved video store.  Me?  Heck no! It is just part of the movie magic charm.

Customer Testimonials

The ultimate Tacoma video store - Jamie P. - Aug 17, 2005 This is the place to go for video and DVD rentals in Tacoma. The sheer selection here is amazing--independents, foreign films, etc., along with the basic mainstream Hollywood stuff

Video rental with a generous helping... - Meg R. - Jul 20, 2006Boy, they have a great selection! And don't they know it. It took me over three tries to finally get a membership there because they require everything but a blood or stool sample.

5 stars to the best video store ever!!!!!!!! - Jack J. - Jul 13, 2005Stadium Video it the type of store everybody longs for. With an entrance hidden on the back side of the Harvester Restraunt, the feel for the store is set before you walk through

"Marty Campbell: Rental inventory goes up for sale on Thursday"

by low bar on 1/29/2012 @ 10:45pm
Damn....gotta save some of the criterion shelf. Greatest shelf in the south puget sound.

this is grim....so grim. i mean...if this isn't a sign that tacoma doesn't have nearly as many gritsters as it needs then idk..

by NineInchNachos on 1/30/2012 @ 7:57am
for reals!

by fredo on 1/30/2012 @ 11:31am
Ironically, Blockbuster video on 6th avenue is closing on January 30, weird. If both stores had closed on December 31 they could have avoided a whole year of personal property taxes. If a video store has 30000 DVDs on January 1st they owe tax on a basis of at least $300,000 or more. 300,000 X 15.00/1000 valuation = $4500 minimum.

my personal conspiracy theory is that during the car crash (see comics.feedtacoma.com/tacomic/tacomic-lo... ) Marty's life flashed before his eyes and he came to some profound revelation. I wonder what he is up to.

also intriguing/hurtful comments on the TNT story www.thenewstribune.com/2012/01/28/200328...

"TNT, if you read these comments, the more I think about it the more I feel the real story here is MC being 2 years behind on $12k of county taxes while being a Tacoma councilman. If I had done the same, there would have likely been severe consequences."

"No, the real story is that a former manager of Buzzard's embezzled $100k without Marty noticing. His fear of a tax audit of his bad bookkeeping kept him from reporting it to the police. The fact that he has any say over how city funds are spent is distressing to say the least."

by fredo on 1/30/2012 @ 11:59am
Saw that. Truth or urban legend? only Marty can say.

by The Jinxmedic on 1/30/2012 @ 12:17pm
Save the clock tower, Marty!

by CaptainBritton on 1/30/2012 @ 1:54pm
I have not felt like myself since seeing this news...I have resisted the theatre, the netflix, I've mostly resisted DVD's!!! My VHS collectioin will have to add a few gems, but to lose the video library is a cultural shame.

The really sad thing is Tacoma is a bit less Tacoma now. (Yes Marty, save the clock tower or else we might as well be Tukwilla!)

by NineInchNachos on 1/30/2012 @ 2:11pm
(moved my VHS player and Cathode Ray Tube TEE VEE into the museum this weekend after reading this)

by NineInchNachos on 1/31/2012 @ 12:41am
from Marty: as of 11:03 tonight no more Stadium Video.

by InvaderPet on 2/1/2012 @ 9:08am
Aw man. There's a cool video store, and I find out NOW?

How many MST3K DVDs did they have in there? Or old VHS Looney Tunes? Are they selling anything?
