TV Tacoma All-Stars: The Traveller Sells Out

Omni Consumer Culture on Demand, Also My CLICK! Connection still sucks

Author's Statement of Purpose: My goal is to get more people to be interested in the PUBLIC COMMENT + COMMUNITY FORUM on TV Tacoma. I want folks to recognize our civic speakers on the street and have compassion for the thundering engine driving them. "I will forge new connections to people orphaned by civilization." - RR Anderson

"[same old stuff]"

Robert "The Traveller" Hill

"I'm speaking to the resolution of the pay raise for Tacoma City Manager Erik Anderson, who looks like he didn't make it today.  That money could be better served going to a single mom, or a young woman who is not a single mom... I know many of these women."

RR Commentary: Sell out!! You look like a Russel Hedge Fund manager... or worse...  a marketing director...  for an asphalt wholesaler.    What happened to the Traveller this city once learned to love?

speed test above are the results of the Click! internet speed test conducted today.

Please compare this to the following notice from my ISP Harbornet:

We have some very exciting news about speed upgrades on our Cable modem products coming this June.

The Service Level One products (Residential and Commercial) will be tripling (3x)their downstream speeds and doubling (2x) their upstream speeds. Moving from 1Mbps/128kbps to 3Mbps/256kbps.

Coming with these great speed upgrades will be some small price changes. You will see these prices changes starting in your June invoices. Please call us with any questions.

Residential Level One will move to
Monthly   32.95  This is an additional 2Mbps for $2/mth...
Quarterly 90.00 (30/mth)
Yearly   336.00 (28/mth)

Thank you for all of your support over the years. We truly hope you enjoy these new products with the increases in speeds - allowing you to have greater access to more features on the Internet.

Thanks again,

RR Commentary: so long story short, they make things 'better' at a small additional fee.  The reality is my connection is slow and I lost count after my streaming TV Tacoma feed DIED seventeen (17) times.  Most of them in mid sentence of valuable public commenter face time.  Incredible waves of frustration, loathing and hatred pulsating through my brain I decided to waste everybody's time here to complain about it.   What will happen now? I will probably get an email from CLICK!'s marketing goon saying "gosh we'll get to the bottom of this!!!" then they'll send it over to harbornet, harbornet will ping my modem saying "Everything is fine. We don't see a problem!"    Oh the pain. Atleast they're not comcast right?

now back to our regularly scheduled program...

Not alot of sympathy here. I am on DSL. Probably the slowest in the Tacoma blogosphere.

I don't know where I have been. Watching the Presidential Address interspersed with military video was way too much. How anybody can possibly support an institutionalized military programmed to do harm onto others is beyond me. Why machismo is back and why military air shows would draw spectators is too bizarre to contemplate. Why we as a species spend time and energy and money on a system that is designed to cause pain and destruction to fellow humans and the earth is a strange phenomenon that hopefully soon will be abandoned like the coliseum is abandoned from gladiators.

The Presidential address and the antics of the army depress me... and those #@*&%! idiots are doing it in MY name. How do I make it stop?

How do I make it stop?

Consider the well summarized and "balanced" political issues on both sides very, very carefully:

Thanks Erik, that helped...some.

The hulk thing was cute but not on point for me. My point is if the army is there to flush out "bad guys" and win the hearts and minds of the Iraqees does this sort of thing help? It should not be tolerated. It shouldn't be tolerated for the sake of the Iraqees and for the mental health of our soldiers. They have to live with themselves and it won't be easy. My grandpa did some awful things in WW2 and was affected by them until he died. My husband is saddened by things he saw his fellow soldiers do in Vietnam. (shoot at cows in a pasture while driving by etc). Our leadership on the ground should not let this kind of thing go on.

by ixia on 7/24/2008 @ 11:29am
Sadly, we don't have leadership. We have companies that make a hell lot of money on wars and mercenaries that do too. And then we have people who sign up to this because they can not afford to go to college.

RR Anderson is one of the most curious characters in the UFO lore and the history of underground cartooning. He fought bizarre underground beings in the caves of Alaska, was wounded by a laser before it was invented, and had a background with the clandestine branch of the Tacoma Cartoonists Society.
