Winthrop Hotel Snipers Terrorize Woman, Pussy
BREAKING: Hanan Network News
According to Patrick Coyne, owner of downtown Tacoma's Paddy Coyne's Pub, the police tonight issued a ticket to two occupants of a Winthrop Hotel apartment for shooting bb gun(s), one of which hit a woman customer and another that shattered one of his restaurant windows on Pacific Ave.

The police told Patrick that they found targets laid out in the apartment. There was an estimate of $1,000. damage to Patrick's front window. A woman having a beer on his patio was hit in the leg. Apparently the males began shooting again and also hit a cat. I watched one of the officers put one of the guns in the trunk of the patrol car after they had gone into the Winthrop.

Patrick said that he initially saw the guys at the Winthrop window and watched them pull back when they realized he was watching. He said the police did not believe him initially when he insisted that the shots were coming from the Wintthrop. After the men started shooting again and hit the cat and a car, the police realized that the shots were in fact coming from what looks like it was a fourth or fifth story corner apartment of the Winthrop Hotel. "I would have bet every penny in my till that the shots were coming from there," Coyne said.

by jenyum on 8/6/2008 @ 10:45am | Well, the average resident of the Winthrop shouldn't be able to afford our bb guns, but we did have several thousand dollars worth stolen out of a car last year....
A bb gun that can shoot that far would cost a few hundred dollars, at a minimum. |
by jenyum on 8/6/2008 @ 11:10am | My husband tells me I am wrong, you can get cheap sniper-type guns for about $30. |
by NineInchNachos on 8/6/2008 @ 11:14am | i suspect we have some assassins-in-training.
here's what we know: 1. The DC Snipers (who trained in Tacoma... supplied by Bulls-Eye) worked in pairs. our Winthrop Snipers are currently working in pairs. 2. in the movie "The Professional" the assassin training the young Natalie Portman used a paint-ball gun or a BB gun style sniper riffle to 'practice' 3. The Winthrop Hotel was named by City Arts Magazine as a 'frat house for scumbags' crediting an article in Tacoma News Tribune.... later it was corrected to be the Olympus Hotel as the 'frat house for scumbags' even so, Assassins are often thought of as 'scumbags' so you can see the logic. |
by Erik on 8/6/2008 @ 11:53am | They were simply issued a ticket for causing $1000 damage and shooting someone? I guess we will have to see what kind of ticket it was. |
by jenyum on 8/6/2008 @ 12:13pm | also I am told airsoft guns can't shatter windows, so I am just wrongo...just enjoying the idea for a second of maybe catching the person who caused us so much financial distress last year. |
by scout on 8/6/2008 @ 12:15pm | I find it amazing that such an outrageous and dangerous act of vandalism warrants only a ticket. What if the woman had been hit in the eye, instead of the leg? |
by FunkomaVintage on 8/6/2008 @ 1:31pm | it's never any fun if someone loses an eye. This kind of crime should not be tolerated at all. That said, when I lived a few blocks from UPS, during the 80s and 90s, and more recently, I had so much vandalism/crime at my house and my cars. Being downtown in the same time frame....crime...not so much.
Just saying. I drove the same kind of crappy hoopties then as now. RR is on to something here with That Theory. On to something...or On Something. |
by jane on 8/6/2008 @ 2:43pm | Just a ticket... I wonder which crime they got it for... shooting the window, the woman or the cat? |
by NineInchNachos on 8/6/2008 @ 3:13pm | they bust the Traveller's chops for carrying a lump of plastic shaped like a 38 special... yet here we have a couple of goons with an actual firing weapon doing actual damage. A ticket? If the traveller brought a bb gun to the city council meeting and opened fire you think they'd just give him a ticket? I would describe the traveller's death as "suicide by cop" |
by Twisty on 8/9/2008 @ 6:05pm | Perhaps somebody should contact the TPD sector commander and ask for an explanation. |
by NineInchNachos on 8/9/2008 @ 6:57pm | latest from hanan news network... "Kudos to Winthrop resident manager Jerry Spencer for taking swift and appropriate action (described below) in response to the unfortunate acts of vandalism done on Pacific Ave. last night. He demonstrated a no tolerance policy for this type of unwarranted, dangerous, and destructive behavior in our neighborhood. " email from jerry: "Laura, I just thought that I would drop you a line to tell too what I did about the problems last night 1. trespassed the person shooting the BB gun 2. gave the renter of the unit a three day notice to quit 3. ask the renter of the unit also to leave by the 30th of August as she has two young children and did not want to put them on the street 4. I will go to Paddy Coynes Irish Pub and tell the owner what I have done so he will hear it from the Resident Manager of the Winthrop Thanks again for the info about last night" |
by NineInchNachos on 8/9/2008 @ 7:00pm | number 3 is a little sad the bb jerks weren't thinking about the children |
