Aroma Moving Out, Wine Bar Coming

Word hit the street some time ago that Cafe Aroma at 10th and Pacific was up for sale. I'm not sure if it actually sold or not - you'll have to ask Bernardo - but it looks like Vinum Wine Bar will be opening in its space soon.

With Merende opening up the street, this end of downtown is slowly evolving into a hot little area!

It does make me wonder: Are there enough wine drinkers in Tacoma to support another wine bar?

Sad to see Cafe Aroma leave.

It seems like downtown actually has few vine bars. Proctor has Pour at Four.

Though, admittedly, I never made it to Vin Grotto I'm interested in a new wine bar downtown. That Aroma spot would have great visibility and seems like it would have ample space for some live music, too.

I liked Aroma when I could get there, but their hours really never worked unless you happened to work down there.

I hope a wine bar can make it there, it seems like many haven't been so successful lately.

In all honesty I'd rather see a coffee shop with longer/weekend hours and maybe an open mic or live music.

The great finish work in Aroma is pretty impressive.

Considering Tacoma has a population of 200,000 plus, there is certainly room for more wine bars. Of course, that would mean less people drinking bulk vodka spiked Kolaid drinks near the Mall.

would you like some cheese with that whine?

Does Tacoma have enough drinkers? Yes.

I hope they keep the coffee and balance out the business w/ wine. That gives them revenue morning, noon and night.

That's the beauty of our free market system Altered Chords. It constantly balances out the coffee and wine ratio.

Yes, ideally that ratio is 1:1.

The Russell folk like their wine. Should be a wine-wine. I mean win-win...

A friend drove by Vinum tonight around 6:30pm and it was dark. New hours? or closed?

I saw them open at lunchtime when I drove past a few days ago. Must be new hours. I know weekends are really dead downtown. No people, dontcha know.
