Rumor has it that the Merlino Arts Center has sold and the One Heart Cafe will be moving into the former Mocha Mountain space at 743 St. Helens. Now the city's political machine will have another option besides Tully's to work their deals.

|What? Now the former Kickstand is going to be available on the market once again?
Any idea of who is going into this location, if anyone?

|Wait - when you say the Merlino Arts Center has sold you mean the whole building? How will this effect the galleries and the Grand? Or do I have it all wrong?|

|The coffee scene is pretty competive these days. |
The place with the most unused potential in town is
Tacoma Mamma says:
This is the sort of grungy (in a good way) independent neighborhood coffee spot that seems to have had difficulty staying open in Tacoma. Fortunately, Shakabrah has survived and thrived and continues to provide my kids with chocolate milk and brownies on a semi-weekly basis.
The crazy thing is that Shakabrah is right in the midst of the action on 6th Avenue and closes at 4:00 p.m. (6?)
Its hard to believe the place could not stay open to 10:00 p.m. or 11 with so many people walking around.

|The Merlino Art Center is where I share a Pilates studio with some other women. The building IS for sale, but is NOT SOLD.
If anyone with a few million wants to buy it and keep it an art center so us artist can keep working we'd appreciate it ; )
Something will go into the old Kickstand space. Just figuring out what/who.
