DOWNTOWN GROCERY STORE CONFIRMED (Tacoma Weekly, Feb. 15, 2011)
On Feb. 15, business partners officially confirmed a lease that will bring a grocery store to downtown Tacoma this summer. Pacific Plaza, a former parking garage, will be transformed into an environmentally friendly, full service, 16,000-square-foot IGA brand grocery store, partners announced. Whidbey Island based The Myers Group partnered with owners of the plaza to bring the store to Tacoma. It owns and operates four other grocery stores in Washington, including the Kress IGA near Pike Place Market in Seattle.

|Thanks Todd. This has to be seen as a significant milestone in the re-development of DT.|

|Truly is. Now maybe the streetscape changes for Pacific in front of there will actually allow on-street parking directly in front of that building rather than none at all which, as one could imagine, can't be good for any retail business.

|This is insanely awesome. Now if Sound Transit would get out of the way, I can shoot straight down Pacific whenever I need to grab a few things.|
