This is the scene today at Bernardo's Aroma Cafe (1201 Pacific Avenue) located on the ground floor of Wells Fargo Plaza . . .
It looks ominous: windows papered over; lights off; empty cash register on a table; no signs regarding closing (for the holidays or permanently), remodeling, etc; phone calls go straight to a generic-type voice mail box.
If you are keeping score at home, Bernardo's moved to this pace from its former home at 1001 Pacific Avenue (now home to Vinum) some time ago.
Bernardo's has always been a decent place for a good cup of coffee or a quick lunch. If you have any info, share it here. If I hear back from Bernardo, I'll share it, too.

|Probably read about the upcoming Pacific Avenue rain gardens demolition work and decided this was as good a time as any to throw in the towel. Just a guess|

|Update: They're open for business and apparently hiring. The place has a nice vibe and what appears to be a new coat of paint.|
