Yellows v. Valiants July 17 at Stadium Bowl
Tickets on sale for Tide international friendly with Port Vale
Tacoma Tide FC today announce that tickets for the club's July 17, 4 PM international friendly with Port Vale FC of England are now on sale online at www.BrownPaperTickets.com, search phrase: “Port Vale.” Tickets are $10, general admission, all ages (under 5 get in free.) The match will be hosted at historic Stadium Bowl in downtown Tacoma.
Port Vale FC were established in 1876, and currently play in the Npower League Two in the English football system. This previous year the Valiants finished 11th in the table.
Port Vale are one of the few English league clubs not to be named after a city or town. The name Port Vale exists on maps pre–dating the 1876 formation of the club, and is a reference to a valley of ports on the Trent and Mersey Canal, associated with the city's pottery industry. They have played more seasons in the second tier of English football (41) than any other club who have never reached the top tier.
The Valiants will be touring around Puget Sound as they prepare for their new season. The side will also visit the Kitsap Pumas in Bremerton and the North Sound SeaWolves in Everett. The most-recent Port Vale roster featured 16 Englishmen. Vale's scoring leader this season was Marc Richards, who scored 20 goals in 46 appearances. Justin Richards was second with 14 goals in 50 matches. The two are not related.
The match will mark the first-ever international friendly for Tacoma Tide FC. Known as “The Yellows,” the Tide were formed back in 2006, and are currently playing their sixth season in the United Soccer Leagues PDL, considered the 4th division of soccer in the USA.
