McCain looks scared

In the last week, McCain has began looking like a deer in the headlights. Look at pictures his eyes are filled with fear. Maybe it's just me.

It's just you.

We've seen the exact same thing with Obama. All of the candidates are under immense pressure. Wouldn't you be?

Yes but all the candidates haven't been caught in half truth after half truth or thought the president could fire the head of the securities and exchange commission or thought spain was in latin america. McCain is an idiot and its beginning to show.

Oh please. There's plenty of that to go around for both sides.

"57 states"? 'nuff said.

Is there a Tacoma connection to this posting?

Does there have to be a tacoma connection? Are there rules for what you can post now? Actually there is not plenty to go around. It's sad for republicans that there candidate is no better than the last one, but it's the truth. If we want our country to bounce back we need to elect a good leader and that is not John McCain.

you main streamers... huff!

Aint got nuttin on Nader!

Obama, McCain.... unsafe at any speed!

Quite frankly, if we want our country to bounce back, a descent into socialism is the very LAST thing we should consider.

Look, there's PLENTY of dirt to be dished on Obama, too... if you really want to go there.

Not that there's any sort of rule about having a Tacoma connection... but in the name of relevance and civility I would hope that the national election would be best left to other venues.

Thus, I merely pointed out earlier that your original point is, quite frankly, equally applicable to candidates on both sides of the aisle. But be prepared for vigorous rebuttal as some of us out here have a response ready for each and every baseless smear that you want to toss at our candidate.

twisty is right. . . it's more fun to get nasty over in the TNT community comment area.. man that place is good place to vent.

hey... I just forgot my friend up in juneau is drawing cartoons for the juneau empire.

Palin is a boon to Alaskan cartoonists yo.

I wasn't being nasty or uncivil. Is it baseless that in a speech he gave yesterday he said that if he were president he would fire the head of the SEC, when in fact
that is not possible for a president.
Is it a smear when I say that keeping the bush tax cuts will hurt not help our economy?
Is it a smear that on monday after one of the worst financial days in history he was quoted as saying our economy was strong.
These points are not smears, they are truth.
Obama is not a socialist, he is for the people of this country, not just the wealthy, but all of us.
This country is in trouble, more of the same will not do anything.

+1 NIN.

Not only are there plenty of sparing partners (worthy and otherwise) at the TNT... but when it's late at night and there is nobody around to play with, you can take cheap shots at the TNT itself, too!

And why is the topic of our national election better left to other venues?

by NineInchNachos

you know those 80's zombie movies where the heroes burst from their safehouse flailing chainsaws... dismembering foes in a savage onslaught? That's what the commenting community is like at the TNT.

here people tend to be more polite because you're more likely to see people face to face... like we all live in the same place. we're all those heros holed up together in the lonely farm house.

the better we work together as a team... the better we can dismember outside invaders.

thank you.

These blogs and this site is yours so feel free to post what you want. If there's debate to be had everyone should be mindful that if something you type/say would get you socked in real life it might be best left to yourself. Do unto others and such. There's plenty to be said election or otherwise so post away and enjoy!

While the discussion of national politics is relevant to most Tacomans and this particular discussion is as interesting as any, I'm wondering if feedTacoma is the best forum. After all, the site clearly states that it's a "community resource by people who live and love Tacoma."

That being said, if intelligence and integrity are of paramount importance I'll have to go with Ralph Nader.

by chrism39

Nader is a great candidate, he is a wonderful man, he has many great ideas, but is this really the climate to vote for Nader? Wouldn't that mean your vote would be wasted?

A great question, Chris!

The value of 3rd Party candidacies is not in their electability, but rather the way they influence national debates and major party platforms. In other words, if Republican or Democratic parties wish to appeal to percieved supporters of 3rd Party candidates they must provide some accomodation to these supporters. The fact that Nader's candidacy cost the Democrats the last 2 elections is testimony to the fact that the Democratic Party has done a poor job reaching out to its traditional constituency. The more the Democrats act like Republicans, the more they will turn off Nader's small but valuable constituency.

My cat says he wants to throw his hat into the political ring. His party affiliation - FFF (Feline Fright Force); his primary issue - pushing back the weasels in the woodwork.

Here is an excerpt from his last political rally where he spoke to unite Purina union cats to vote FFF in 2008:

"Have you ever noticed when the economy gets bad and the weasels start to come out of the woodwork?

"You know ‘em - the buttheads hawking get rich quick schemes, like 'Learn how to flip houses', to bottom feeders that prey on unfortunates sinking in the foreclosure quagmire.

"I’m talking the shitheads that try to beat down small business owners in the midst of slowdowns resulting from the trickle down affect of the sub-prime mortgage debacle - nothing more American than kicking someone when they're down, just to get a better deal.”

“I say Bobcats, Grimalkins, Cheetahs, Jaguars, Kittens, Leopards, Lions, Lynxes, Manx, Moggies, Panthers, Persians, Pumas, Siamese, Tabbys, Tigers, and Zibets unite and support your local businesses..... without asking for a deal!"

National politics is of interest and concern to Tacoma residents and therefore is an acceptable topic of discussion on a Tacoma blog.

Altered Chords has spoken.

Altered Chords@ If the only criteria for feedtacoma topic acceptability is that the topic be of interest or concern to a Tacoma resident then that would include every topic in the universe wouldn't it?

Fredo has spoken.

Fredo has asked.

Altered Chords will proclaim the answer.

Yes.

We're on "chrism'39" blog.

When you read what this blog is about it says. "community matters, my kids, running and whatever pops in my head.

I say yes because I think the blogger intended to say "whatever pops INTO my head.

National politics has popped into the bloggers head so the blogger blogged about it.

Our choice is to respond or not.

If the author truly intended to say whatever pops in my head then this blog would by definition, be restricted to: community matters, his/her kids, running and anneurisms.

In that instance one could contend that the presidential/ vice presidential candidates are "running" for office and this topic STILL qualifies.

I think the "power" in having blogs created in a locally based setting isn't that everything has to revolved around that locality but instead ties people together with a common thread. I know if I were discussion politics or any other hot-button topics I'd prefer to do it with people I might run into or see on any given day. Why? Because I know that discussion is going to be far more civil by default than with someone there's not a snowball's chance I hell I'll ever meet.

Thanks for the topic, crism. McCain and Obama are both far better choices than having a couple GW wannabe's vying for the office. I heard McCain speak during the primary season in 2000 and was impressed overall. Not enough to vote for him but I respect his character and how he's become the man he is today. Certainly better than Bush.

Obama, however, is easily my choice because I identify far more with his story and his vision for our country. Both men will, again, get the job done and be better than Bush. I just see Obama as the candidate who not only speaks to my beliefs but deeply inspires and gives me hope for the future.

The tragic thing about McCain is his torture experience wouldn't be considered torture by our current president's standards.

I'm a big fan of the Geneva Convention... I would love to see the next president give her some love.
