I did not realize I started a blog, I thought I was just posting a comment which shows how much I know. I thought I would clarify my comments. My kids attend Sherman and while it is a very good school I have seen what looks to be putting the same kids together again and again. For instance the kids who went to all day kindergarten for the most part have been kept together. I mean is this how they do things everywhere? maybe I'm just sensitive but the reason for many kids not attending all day was the money, many parents simply did not have it. I'm so happy they finally made all day district funded, because the old way was not fair. And this is completely off the subject but man it is cold.

|My kid's in Sherman, too. I would like my full-day K kid to be in a first grade class with other full day Ks, because I think a first grade review of what she's learned in kindergarten would lead to a case of boredom/complacency for her, as she is a quick and above the mean kindergartener, despite her squirrely nature. |
That said, I can see how demographics dictate--or have dictated-- that flow, up til now, esp as half day K was financially feasible, with full day expensive (that said: half day would have cost me additional daycare at roughly twice the cost of full day daycare; I had to find a job that was workable with my family life and situation.)
at any rate, hope things improve and become more positive for you!

|but wouldn't that be perpetuating inequity, I mean the point is mute now since full day is going to universally funded ( in tacoma). What I was saying is you can't in a public school give some kids a better education because their parents can afford to pay.|
