Waiting for Merconi's to open this morning this morning, I looked up at Old City Hall and saw PLANTS growing on the side of it and what looks to maybe be a TREE growing on the ledge of the middle round window!
Now, I realize that I need new glasses, so if a few of you could swing by with cameras and document this I would appreciate it.

1 cup red lentils
4 cups water to soak
4-6 cups water to boil
2 cups water to cook
14 ounce canned diced tomatoes in juice or 2 beef steak tomatoes, rough chopped
1 small root of ginger, grated
1 head of garlic, minced
1 heaping teaspoon chili powder (I use ancho)
4 tablespoons butter or oil
1 teaspoon salt
� teaspoon black pepper
1/3 cup cream or thick yogurt or coconut milk
Small dish of red pepper flakes
Soak lentils 4-8 hours, just until the little �tails� start growing.
Rinse lentil and place in large sauce pan, cover with 2-3 inches of water. Bring to a boil. Turn off heat and let sit 10 minutes. Drain most water from pot � and return to stove. Add tomatoes, ginger, garlic, chili peppers, water, butter, salt and black peppers. Cook on medium low for 1 hour, add � cup water as needed to keep from drying out. Stir in heavy cream and serve with red pepper flake garnish.
HINT: most Hindi cooks I know do NOT prep before a recipe. Chop the tomatoes (if fresh) while the water is coming to a boil. Add the tomatoes and start grating the ginger, add ginger and start prepping the garlic, etc. The ingredients should be listed by the order of what needs to cook longest. An example is a potato and red pepper dish � add the potatoes and start chopping the pepper � by the time you add the peppers the potatoes are cooked.
HINT2: Because of the variable nature of fresh ingredients and spices � a recipe may turn out completely differently than you expected. If, when you are finished cooking and the dish just doesn�t taste like what it should � rename it.

We're having a big party at Crescent Moon today!
Local fantasy artists and musical groups will be in the store throughout the day.
Every hour will be a new (free) intro-class - I'll be giving the 12noon class "Intro to Hoodoo."
I'll also be the store Tarot reader for the first half of the day.
Hope to see a few familiar faces today!

The not-quite open first peek at the space
The music room - several members are now planning a weekly drum circle type get toghether.
The entry way.
We stayed late.
I brought my spinning wheel, wool picker, and fiber over. I will be at the space on Mondays - if any memebers want to learn to spin or use the picker/carder. I will teach an intro to spinning class in March (non-members welcome) watch for details.
The garage - soon to be Hot Shop.
This will be a dark room as soon as it can get set up. It's bigger than it looks.
Yeah, I paid extra for this....

1st Planning Meeting
The 1st planning meeting for the possibility of a Tacoma Makers Space is Tuesday night. Jinx and I will be there with the people who have the space. We will walk throught the available space and talk finances.
Right now thoughts are towards a Hot Shop / forge - kiln area; beginning wood shop; fiber arts set up; dedicated work spaces; and a possible dark room. There would be wifi and older computers for members to schedule time on. Are we forgetting anything?
But like I said this is the first (limited access) meeting. If you have a desire to be one of the opening investors - 'cause these things do cost start up money and monthly maintenance fees - If you are interested in being invovled on the start-up please let me know.
I'll post the followup on Wednesday....
