This event was planned ages ago - so of course this is the hottest day of the year...

Oh well, we have the chocolate in cool storage until the party - should be fun!

I estimate you've listed about 15 pounds of chocolate. Does each attendee get this? Sounds like a pretty good offer.

My god, that's a lot of chocolate.
Does this exceed the legally allowable amount of deliciousness?

11 +pounds of chocolate - each person recieved 1 small square per bar of chocolate until we were chocolated out.

Most people sampled 13 bars of their choice, a coupled sampled 14 bars before overloading.

A serious foodie/chocolate fiend friend of mine had said that it would be extreme to sample more than 12 bars in a 2 hour time window - so we did pretty good.

The next Tea and Chocolates is scheduled for Sept 26(?) at 1pm and several people have already made reservations.

Surprisingly, the Scharffen Berger Bittersweet 70%, bar was a disappointment - it was one of the chocolates that gets high marks in foodie articles and write-ups. We agreed that while it was decent, it would be better served in cooking or candy making than eaten straight.

The Droste Holland Milk/Bittersweet Chocolate got very high marks by all.

We also tried the Cadbury Dairy Milk back to back with the Cadbury (Euro) Dairy Milk - the European bar won hands down with all but one person. On the other hand it was noted that it had a few preservatives I'm not used to seeing on labels and that gave me pause to buy it again.

Anyhoo, are you getting $20 worth of chocolate per person? No, closer to $5-7.

You are getting a chance to try a good selection of expensive chocolates - if a person wanted to sample 22 bars they could.

We sat around a table sipping tea, tasting chocolates, discussing the flavor profiles, making notes on the take-home papers, and half way through each person recieved a basic tea reading. It was a pleasant, relaxing, and just plain fun time that was enjoyed by all.

Way to go daubermaus! Good community building event and another feather in 6th Avenue's hat. And a nice review of the event and subject matter.

Did you get any photos?

This Sunday is the next Tea and Chocolate event at Crescent Moon Gifts from 1-3p, $20 per person.

It will be followed by an open invite potluck.

Holy cats, that is a lot of different chocolates. Will there be insulin on hand?
