by intacoma on 7/16/2008 @ 7:50am | are you doing ninja stars? |

by KevinFreitas on 7/16/2008 @ 8:47am | I totally blanked and thought this was tonight. I'm afraid I'll miss out due to my talk at today's City Club luncheon. Have a blast and keep us posted if you do this again. Sounds really fun! |

by izenmania on 7/16/2008 @ 8:55am | Fingers? I have those! |

by intacoma on 7/16/2008 @ 8:57am | oh you know how to do those paper fingers?! |

by droid116 on 7/16/2008 @ 9:06am | |

by intacoma on 7/16/2008 @ 9:21am | oh thats awesome |

by izenmania on 7/16/2008 @ 1:32pm | I made a crane. And an inflatable frog. |

by droid116 on 7/16/2008 @ 2:10pm | That was a lot of fun for me. The wind almost became a factor with a few paper balloons trying to escape once or twice. It may have provided some entertainment for those watching while eating their lunch.
We had a guy playing a guitar for a while there and he was pretty darn good.
Thanks for coming by TacomaMama, DavidB, Joe and company. I don't think my kids would have enjoyed scootering around as much as they did if I didn't have others to fold with.
I will have to post some pictures.
Thanks a great deal to jcbetty who was there from the start and even helped break things down afterwards.
Thanks to Warren from Tacoma Art Supply for the awning as well. |

by KevinFreitas on 7/16/2008 @ 3:46pm | Any proposed date for doing this again? |

by droid116 on 7/17/2008 @ 10:11am | I did it mostly to fulfill my own self pledge. I would like to do it again and had thought about taking my free Wednesdays to sit out there share a bit.
That doesn't provide much synergy for more folks coming out to the plaza and it is closer to saying "I'm gonna eat my lunch out there."
However, I could really see some fun happening if three or four folks just came by to share what hobbies, arts or crafts they had.
In the meantime, I WILL be giving a couple of longer folding sessions at the UWT Library coming up.
The first is free Origami workshop on Thursday August 7, 2008 from 10am - Noon in the Library's upstairs conference room LIB 222A. I will be teaching how to make various flowers - some of which will be used in an upcoming Origami display at the Library.

by jcbetty on 7/17/2008 @ 12:10pm | I had a fabulous time yesterday, and seem to have caught the origami bug, though I'm sad to report my cranes appear sickly when I attempt to fold them at home (it would appear, as I compared crane a, created at the plaza, to crane b, infected with some sort of wrong-origami flu, that I did some step somewhere backwards.)(big surprise, there!)
Thanks so much for sharing your time, your smallfries' teaching abilities, enthusiasm, and positivity-- It was a pleasure meeting you and spending some time catching a new creative pursuit!! |
