Rejoice! Maybe Reborn!

12 May at Cheney Stadium

Seems like there are some amazing possibilities being concocted between the owners of the Tacoma Rainiers and the owners of the Sounders Women.  They are looking to team up in the future and possibly share ownership of a USL Pro outdoor soccer team which would be a TACOMA team!  I guess they are taking a game which will be played at Cheney on 12 May as a feeler of sorts to see how much support there might be in the South Sound/Greater Tacoma areas.

This is big you guys!  No more being all depressed because your favorite soccer team became the seattle sounders U-23!  This could lead to basically legit pro soccer players playing here!  And the schedule will be more full than the PDL team we used to have since it will no longer be made up of unpaid college students home on break!

I'm not sure how it will go down next year, but come on out to Cheney Stadium 12 May at 1600 and support the possibilities.

Seattle Sounders Reserves of the MLS to play Orlando City Lions of the USL Pro soccer League.

Can Anything Good Come From Tacoma?

But you, O Tacoma,
who are too little to be among the clans of Oregon,
from you shall come forth for me
one who is to be ruler of all Timbers

And the remnant of Timbers shall be among the Washingtonians,
in the midst of many Sounders fans,
like a logger at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium,
like a chain-saw wielding logger chopping down manatee,
who, when he goes through, treads down
and tears in pieces for the flounder tin, and there is none to deliver.
Your hand shall be lifted up over your adversaries,
and all your enemies shall be cut down

Tacoma Tide Do Not Exist

Pierce County now has a team called Sounders FC U-23

I'm glad for soccer in Pierce County.
Sad that Tacoma doesn't have her own team anymore.

Tide and Sounders Find New Local Ownership Group

our team is coming back next year!

The Tide will rise again.

I have never been so happy to read a spew article.  The Tide has a new majority ownership group and our team will be returning for another exciting year of outdoor soccer.  It will be interesting to see if they can get the right connections and pull off the team being in the Stadium without losing all of their money.  I love rich soccer benefactors!

Bremerton wins the national championship.

obviously we're in a dificult division, eh

So, over the weekend, several teams from all over the country met in bremerton for the PDL National Championship.  it was in portland last year and won by their U23 team.  and now bremerton earns the honor.  congratulations to our northwestern neighbors, the Kitsap Pumas for taking it all.

the northwest is an exciting place to be for being a fan of soccer, but it will be a very long off season.  anyone wishing to switch allegiances from tacoma to the timbers with me until the tide (hopefully) starts up again next spring is more than welcome.

tacoma doesnt lose!

but ends in last place

tacoma ties washington crossfire to end season with one win, eleven losses and five ties.  we earn eighth and last place in the northwest division.  though we started playing in historic stadium, we realized that the rent was too high for the amount of spectators showing up.  the tide ended the season back in university place.  im just glad i got to see a single game with a great view of the sound.

i am proud of our boys even through the losing season.  they continually fought hard to defend tacoma, including tonight.  spencer richey must have made at least a million amazing saves in goal.  hopefully the owners bring soccer back and can get a better deal on stadium next year.  the end.

The Tacoma Stars!

the perfect winter spectator sport

www.tacomastars.com is up with details about this year's schedule.  season tickets for TACOMA STARS' return to the realm of professional indoor soccer are available.  i saw a few of their games which were at the amateur level last year but i missed their national championships where tacoma destroyed the rest of the country.

again, according to David Falk with the Seattle Soccer Examiner,

"Marian Bowers (Stars owner) is in the midst of developing plans to build a new facility in Tacoma that will continue to serve soccer players of all ages. She is dedicated to offering programs accessible to the community at large including sending Tacoma Stars players to local schools to mentor kids. Marian is committed not only to soccer but to the betterment of the Tacoma area community. She genuinely cares about the impact her business makes on the community."
