According to David Falk, Tacoma Soccer Examiner, the Tide may move south to Olympia. This would be ridiculous. After playing here for five years, apparently Mike Jennings (owner) is having difficulty finding enough sponsorship or childrens soccer teams to come to the games.
I propose that they move to Tacoma proper instead of University Place. A perfect venue would be stadium high school, or lincoln high school maybe. Anywhere actually in Tacoma as opposed to University Place. Also, perhaps appeal to the adult crowd as well as the children. Tie in some craft beer sponsorship with some beer specials at the games. I am not sure how that would work as it is a high school property but where there are drink specials, there are sure to be loyal customers.
I don't know, they should do something and anything to maintain a soccer team in Tacoma. Local soccer is the best.

|what does the "FC" stand for?
I'm not a sports guy, and your crazy jargon confuses me.
by Crenshaw Sepulveda on 4/18/2010 @ 11:28pm
|The FC would be for Football Club. I'm not big into the sports either but since football, what we call soccer, is the world's game, it is good to be on top of this sort of thing. I had a deprived youth. In high school the other guys discovered sports while I discovered women.|

|your poor deprivation.
you are correct, though. i speak of the tacoma tide football club.

|2 wins on the road in canada and a tie. the tide beat seattle's crossfire on wednesday 1-0 with some harrowing saves and near misses. they play again this sunday at 3:00pm against victoria.
i was wrong about the crowd size being related to holidays i think. there was barely anyone there. no worries about missing any world cup action, if you come, you will be the loudest person there. BRING A VUVUZELA AND MOCK THE CANADIANS AS WE TRY TO ACTUALLY BEAT THEM THIS TIME.
by inbloodyrise on 6/18/2010 @ 6:07pm
|victoria is ranked 2 and we are four. until after we beat them on sunday that is.|
by inbloodyrise on 6/29/2010 @ 9:05pm
|we beat those canadians, now it is portland's turn.|

|Give 'em hell, Tide!|

|Let's hope that both the Tide and Sounders can chop down some Timbers tonight, as the US Open Cup match between the Timbers A squad and Seattle starts at the same time.|
by inbloodyrise on 6/30/2010 @ 8:56am
|It's complicated. I want very badly to watch the Open Cup match, but Tacoma > Seattle. Maybe Doyles will TiVo it so we can watch both.|
by inbloodyrise on 6/30/2010 @ 1:52pm
|they say they will|

|Can the Tide play at Cheney after the renovation this year?|
by inbloodyrise on 7/1/2010 @ 12:52am
|i wish they would play at stadium high school close to down town. it is ridiculous to cheer for a "tacoma" team in university place. i doubt that cheney is dual purpose and it is really not any better of a location anyways.|
by inbloodyrise on 7/1/2010 @ 12:59am
|we lost 1-2 btw, the winning point coming in the 84th minute. not a bad game considering something or other. we had a lot of great chances but they were mostly off of long balls or quick runs. our possesion was lacking. and obviously our scoring. our goal came from a pk due to a yellow card in the box.

|but i am definitely t-town til i die|

|I didn't even know Tacoma had a soccer team. Huh.|
by inbloodyrise on 7/5/2010 @ 10:15pm
|yeah, i guess it isn't advertised really strongly. I saw some posters at doyles, but unless you read the small print, it was impossible to tell what it was on about.|
by inbloodyrise on 7/5/2010 @ 10:19pm
|there is a game on friday at 7:30, though. a rematch with the canadians vancouver whitecaps. we beat them last time and i look forward to a thorough whipping.

|again, according to Seattle Soccer Examiner's recent interview, TACOMA will be getting a new soccer team in the NSSL. The commisioner to the new fourth tier (same level as the former tacoma tide pdl team) american soccer league, National Star Soccer League, didn't give many details.|
Apparently, the four teams in this years NSSL Northwest Championship refused to actually play post season due to additional costs that the league was demanding. Columbia River FC will actually be switching to the PDL next year.

|Interesting news, thanks for keeping us posted! Looking forward to further developments.|
by inbloodyrise on 12/23/2010 @ 9:38pm
according to the USL site, The Tide will play a team from england's league 2. Port Vale FC will play Tacoma 17 July 2011.
i hope we put together a good side this year and re-enact the american revolution.
also, without the team officially saying that they will be back in tacoma, this scheduled game must mean that they are back in business.
GO TIDE! BLOODY RISE!
by inbloodyrise on 12/28/2010 @ 10:18am
|as seen on the goaltacoma.com messageboards: somebody knows somebody who knows, and they are spreading the rumor online that the TIDE are planning to play their games this summer at STADIUM BOWL.
i hope it pans out, is announced and met with high interest and that season tickets go on sale soon.
by Dave_L on 12/28/2010 @ 11:36am
|That would be a perfect setting. I hope the rumor is true.|
(Maybe then it would even get more traction here on FT.)
by inbloodyrise on 1/17/2011 @ 9:39am
|i doubt the NSSL team is going to happen in tacoma due to the fact that their commisioner is being charged with embezzlement or something. might be hard to get the company running smooth enough to expand this year.|
by inbloodyrise on 1/20/2011 @ 5:00pm
|a quick remembering of the past before big things are announced. you are very excited!
