There's going to be Team-Blitz Games!
Witness brilliant moves from ‘The Game of the Century’ by a 13 year old prodigy racing against a living, breathing, two-headed clock!
Live play by play & color commentary by Doug Mackey & Kris Brannon!
Any players out there?
Bring a chess set and play it up!
It’s gonna be HIGH NOON.
It’s all about art, public space & community.
No previous chess experience necessary to enjoy the show….

Neat. Perhaps a giant chess board could be painted on Tollefson Plaza.

It was fun participating AND spectating. Thanks to John Carlton, and Lynn DiNino, and Doug Mackey & stand-up comic Kris-the-guy-with-the-Sonics-outfit-and-cardboard-sign Brannon who gave up a few quarters of Seahawks to volunteer (hilarious play-by-play by both!) ,.... friends I know from past Lynn events, as well as new friends. Many hands were in this. Although participants far outnumbered pure spectators in the dead, dead plaza, it was a blast. Thanks to members of the Tacoma Chess Club who showed up to play. Here are a few lousy camera-phone shots of Erik directing his elves, on his way to victory.

Other photos will be floating around elsewhere, and the Trib's Peter Haley hung out for a while.
