Apparently the school right by my house (Whitman Elementary) is on lockdown because there because men with guns have been sighted. My neighbor was dropping her kids off and now she is trapped inside. She texted my wife from the cafeteria.
Anyone know anything?

|Called up Mark Fulghum in Tacoma Police's Public Relations Unit (253-591-5968) and there wasn't anything he'd heard about thus far. Hopefully an unfortunate false alarm but I'm sure even if that's the case TPD is on the scene.|

|Turns out it was a brief, partial lockdown due to parents noticing police activity in the area around Whitman. The lockdown is over and no students, staff, or parents were in harms way at all.
Pam over at Tacoma Public Schools noted also that lockdowns occur as a precaution often at TPD's request whenever they may be conducting operations nearby schools and especially during morning arrival, lunch, and in the afternoon when school lets out.
A worthy precaution but I imagine still a frightening thing for your neighbor to be caught in Stowe.
