cleanliness as a state of mind

(there goes that barometer...)

I have said before that the state of my house is a pretty good barometer as to the state of my mind.

A messy house means I'm pretty much "in the moment" with other things, running about, working, hanging with kid and friends, being happy.

A clean house means I have some kind of internal muck I desperately need to purge and spit shine.

So there I was today, cleaning the kitchen, the cupboards, the switch plates, the oven and stove controller knobs, all the canisters and all their interiors, the floors, the kick boards, the walls...get the picture?

In the meantime, The Man was cleaning the garage, visiting the dump, taking care of the manly to-do list prior to his departure.  Tomorrow, he's back to work in his military capacity, training up to go to a sandy, warm, totally not tropical place.

No, the house isn't spotless--yet-- but I have big plans.  Organizational plans. Clean plans. Crafty plans.

Plans that mean my home environment won't reflect the state of my insides.

(But darn it all, after all was said and done in the kitchen, after my hands were the texture of 60 grit sandpaper, when we went to the Rosewood as a family, after playing in the school's playground with other families.... Life was good.  And coming home to a surgically clean kitchen?  Very good.)
