Girlfriend in Tacoma

friends rock

(so do iPods, especially as you're about to vacate)

The Man has some wonderful friends.  One of them happens to work in Cali for apple, and specifically, for iPod.

Friend's mad connections, combined with a history that includes a love of the movie Big Wednesday (I think only Cali surfers "get" it) combined with the call to war (which also happens in the movie) means that The Man got a nano, gratis.  Engraved.  With a sweet Big Wednesday quote.  I got teary, it was so freakin' sweet.

I got teary, because it meant I had sole custody of The Man's sweaty, badly-loaded 'pod (sorry, but WHO listens to NWA, Eminem, and one song by Rage Against The Machine to run??  Not I, I reply!)

I got teary, because The Man loaded No Country for Old Men, and Step Into Liquid and Sweet Home Alabama (for me, he thinks I heart Matthew Mconahotty) onto my iTunes, which I could load onto my (his old/sweaty) iPod.  Which means I have Real Entertainment for our flight to Maui.

Halleluja, and bless you, Dave.  (I always did like you best.)

nope, not Dave "Eh Hee," coolest video ever, with MLK School mco-mastermind/dance teacer/Tacoma chica extraordinaire Kate Monthy writhing with others from the Northwest, but rather, Dave Friend-Of-The-Man-In-High-School, (same friend who is a graphic designer/artist/surfer/iPod master living in Santa Cruz; same friend who showed me my first big, hard, glossy (gasp) iPhone. It impressed me.
