Girlfriend in Tacoma

gas stations rock.

(one letter, one number: T3)

I just went on a mission of mercy for The Man.  He wanted beer, I surrendered my frantically packing, discombobulated self for the cause.

The Chevron on Pearl and 51st had his six pack of Bud Light, as I knew they would.  And they had a treat for me: a bottle of Townshend T3, sittin' on the shelf, waiting for me to pluck it off.

(Ya gotta love gas station wine.)

A highly unusual find since T3 is sold to restaurants exclusively and perhaps to some dealers. At Chevron? We are talking about wine right?

I thought only kids in highschool drink budlight I was wrong :(

OH, Yeah, Erik-- wine, good wine, the same good wine you didn't share with me (*sob*). They (the Chev RONE, as I like to call it, b/c an accent lends an aura of distinction) usually carry Townshend's Vortex, and used to carry T3 before the restaurants started getting cranky (or?? I dunno?) -- so mostly, I've been picking up the desperation Chevron Vortex bottle, but today was a happy, "no, really, quit stressing and get over your twitchy little self" gift from Providence.

Umm, yeah, inTac, The Man hearts Bud Light AND Michelob Ultra. Which is, like, beer-flavored water with a little fizzy added. (but it means he can have four beers and not look like Homer.) (*uuuuuuuuuuurp.* ) --(beer snob, he is not.)

jcbetty,

We will see if Kevin will start a contribution pool and we can open a case of it in Frost Park. Ok, maybe not.

Speaking of T3. I did see a slew of it at Indochine right on the edge of shelf as I was about to walk up the stairs. Tried to take picture of it but there was too much glare.

If you are on his good side, Barry at Rosewood Cafe might let you pick up a bottle there.

usually carry Townshend's Vortex

Yes, the Vortex Red is available at Metro another places.

yep, Barry is my good, good, good (not, in the carnal sense, but in the T3 sense) friend. ;)

Hmmm.

Thought I had that bottle of T3. Searched the "wine cellar" (a half empty cardboard box from Bill the Wine Merchant) and it is not there.

There's this:

But the Vortex just isn't the same. (There's the latest Tacomic I bought today)

nice photo!!!

by jcbetty on 3/18/2008 @ 8:14pm
(and no, Vortex isn't, is it?)

by Erik on 3/18/2008 @ 8:39pm
This is getting difficult. Vin Grotto is shut down. The Wine Merchant is closed for the night. No other retailer is selling this.

How about this?

Nope. That's even further off. Its some kind of fruit wine. This is getting sad.

I might have to drive out to that 7-11 type place on Pearl you say you found the T3 at.

I can vouch on the Townshend-Chevron claim. I have ridden the illustrious position of shotgun whilst these wine trips have been made. or maybe I drove. I forget. damn wine.

Wine is my hero.

by jcbetty on 3/18/2008 @ 9:34pm
Izenman(eeya!)--mine, too.
Steph--shotgun, babe. And it was always Votex, though I longed to impress you with the random bottle of T3, only it never materialized in my time of "wanna be cool."
Erik--regrettably, my chev-RONE closes at, like, 9. (and even more regrettably, I misplaced my glass of wine...wtf???)

by jcbetty on 3/18/2008 @ 9:41pm
"Voe-tex" is kinda' like the Koe-tex" of wines. Tragic typo, that. (but funny.)

Thanks jcbetty.

I guess its too late now. However, I did manage to make a trip down the block tonight and lucked out I must say:

I wrote on the label to show I didn't just steal the picture from some place. I though Kevin would like the branding.

I believe that would be it.

(Note the wine in the glass is not from the bottle. I ws drinking their "House Red")

Relatively cheap too:

well. hmmmph. My gas station T3 was 13.99, though the idea (and that photo) of a gorgeous Rosewood pour of red makes me wish I'd paid 16. (Mondays. Rosewood. Gorgeous, huge pours, Five Bucks. I love that place.)

by Erik on 3/18/2008 @ 11:00pm
$13.99? Wow. I am going to have to check out this place. Yeah Rosewood has some pretty mean pours. The glass is like a small fishbowl.

Perhaps a guerilla marketing campaign is in order. I'll make up some stickers and have folks send in photos of where they've stuck them. Thanks Erik! For now, however, the custom labeling will do. ;)

by jcbetty on 3/29/2008 @ 10:07am
I found the T3 there again-- 15.99, not 13.99 (musta' been mismarked, before-- Vortex is 13.99, though)

so, yeah, I heart my gas station...

Yeah that seemed a bit low but $16 is still a pretty good price.
