The mayhem begins...
(scheduling insanity.)
Yes, it's only one kid, and yes, I'm already overwhelmed. And yes, it's only the first day of her official fall schedule of events starting.
Even still, between that thing called a day job, that other thing called trying to get healthy again (ie, lose the weight I've picked up over the summer) and that other thing called getting the kid to school, to the doctor's, to the dentist's, etc, etc... Well, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. And here I was, waiting impatiently for this schedule stuff to start... Soon there'll be MLK Ballet, YMCA swimming and gymnastics, and (hopefully) piano.
I'm not sure if we'll keep all the events, I'm sure there'll be tweaking (I don't want that over scheduled life, and yet, she's choosing the activities, and has chosen this number of things...)
At any rate, I'm sure it'll all work out fine, and we'll settle into a groove...
(but in the meantime I'm tired)

by jenyum on 9/9/2008 @ 4:52pm | Feel free to let a thing or two go, seriously. That's a whole lot of stuff to coordinate. My kids really can't hack more than one after school activity (even if "activity" is running an errand with mom) per day. Anything more and everyone gets crazy.
They get their school enrichment class and one extracurricular activity each, and that's about what I'm willing to chauffeur. We have to get homework done and kids bathed and in bed by 8:30/9 or the overtiredness kicks in. I mean, if she wants to play piano that is something that requires teaching. But swimming? You guys can go during open swim sometimes and she can learn without a formal class. And I'd make them choose ballet OR gymnastics. But that is me, and I am a slacker. (And I have two kids) I admire you for attempting to coordinate all of that. |
