Girlfriend in Tacoma

mmmmmm, coffee

(cavanaugh's makes me happy.)

Someday I want to write about the things that make me smile from a deep down, warm in my heart place. For now, I will write about just one: Cavanaugh's Coffee.  It's kind of, the anti-hipster joint.  My kid loves it here because there's a dog statue she can look at.  I love it here becasue it's a comfortable place where I can tap into free wifi without feeling self-conscious or un-hip; it's super close to the kid's school, and it's pretty close to the house.  The 130 degree latte is always the right temp (why is it, when you say, "130 degrees" soem cups scald, while some are right on?)  and I love that Linda always knows exactly what I want and starts it up even before I order.

Today as I finish up my last order of business for work (yay, emancipation!) I can't help but smile and feel like, for me, this is as close to perfect as it gets.

Dang, I haven't been there for a while and we live straight down Cheyenne from it. I blame my not being much of a coffee drinker and that presumed allergy I have to my favorite form of tea: chai.

Perhaps I need little more to convince me to head back down to Cavanaugh's than two words: hot chocolate.

They're on the corner of N. 41st and Cheyenne. Nice quiet spot off the main drag in North Tacoma. Truly charming.
