...and Back to School Celebration
In this thread about school supplies, DaveL suggested a FeedTacoma clothing exchange.
I think this is a great idea, let's run with it!
I am offering up the Tacomamama booth at the Broadway Farmers Market as a possible venue, next Thursday, September 4th at noon. I'm thinking setting it at the lunch hour will make it possible for working parents to participate.
However, if that absolutely will not work for you and you want to attend speak now or forever hold your peace! We can do something else but if we want to do it then I should really start planning/promoting now.
If you've never been to the Local Living Lounge at the market, it's a great place to buy lunch from one of the many local food vendors and eat at a comfy table or on the grass while the kids play at the Tacomamama booth.
I'm thinking everyone can bring clothes their kids can't wear anymore, swaps will be negotiated, (I've participated in a few of these before and sometimes there are popular clothes) and anything left at the end of the day will be deposited in a donation bin.
Let me know what you think.

We were a little concerned, because the reporter did not give a whole lot away when she came to a game. The article turned out to be very fair and well written.
Now, if only she had mentioned the Battlesim Store. It moved this week, to:
7247 S. Pine St, #B (next to chiropractic office in gray complex)
I think Jason's taking the day off today, but normally the store is open Tuesday through Saturday from 2 to 7.

Everything Should Taste Like Bacon
I have been a little down lately, but I think I have discovered the reason:
life is just not bacon-y enough.
Note: It comes in two flavors! Also, that Everything Should Taste Like Bacon slogan is trademarked, so don't go copying it.
Jul. 12, 2008 at 10:36pmWow, just, wow.
Bad enough American Idol gets more press than pride week here, our county council can't even pass a resolution in support of a very tame gathering in a park. A simple proclamation supporting Out in the Park failed this week, by a 4 to 3 vote.
I had to search for "out in the park tacoma news tribune" to even find the Trib's coverage of the event, and this is what turned up. Sad. Diversity, or at a bare minimum, tolerance, is essential to any world-class city, and we've obviously got a very long way to go.
Jun. 2, 2008 at 8:58amthis entry over the weekend, then you already know that the facility that houses Tacomamama's servers in Texas had a big fire this weekend. Power is now back on, but someone has to manually go in and whack it with a wrench or something before we'll be back up and running. (We've had to have them manually fiddle with it before, I am not too concerned at this point. Fortunately, we were not on the floor that sustained the worst damage.) Because of the large numbers of machines effected (at one point about 9,000 customers and somewhere in the realm of 90,000 websites) this could take a little while.
In the mean time, here is a picture of some lemurs:
They are very cute, and if you don't have to go to work today you should go see them while the zoo's not crowded, because during the weekends it's crawling with kids.
