RideTacoma.com

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce a new Tacoma-centric blog. This one focuses on promoting bicycling and bicycling events in Tacoma. We're only a week old and still finding our feet.

If you're a cyclist of any kind, check it out. We're posting info about any event we can find.

We also have a feedback/ideas page if you have anything you'd like to share with us. Help us improve the site.

Thanks,

Matt

No need for drugs low bar.How does one get up very steep hills easily on a bicycle in Tacoma ? Electrical assist of course using electric hub motors like on a electric bike or e bike.Basically a 500 watt direct drive electric hub motor will give you about 65% of the assist up a steep hill.By itself quite adequate as that motor will do nearly 2/3 rds of the work.
In Washington state the laws are that for an electric bike to be street legal it can use no more than 1,000 watts of power at a maximum speed of 20 mph.If one used 2 -500 watt direct drive electric hub motors (one on the front wheel and one on the back one) you might not even have to pedal up a steep hill. There are of course more powerful and higher wattage motors. My electric bike only has a 250 watt geared electric hub motor but it does help a lot in going up hills. If I were much younger and in better shape I probably could do without this assist.
