More Buddyness

I know, I know, broken record. Honestly I personally did NOTHING for this play other than give birth to the sound tech 26 years ago, but I do love TLT and I think they deserve an audience for this one. Last night, word on the street is that the entire audience was on its feet for the whole final concert.

And some people who already saw it are now going back for seconds.

Go see Buddy

Not just because Kevin Freitas is on stage wearin' a big ol' cowboy hat and playing trumpet. Not even because you could turn around and make faces at izenmania, who is running sound in the booth. Go see Buddy Holly at Tacoma Little Theatre because it is fun and it will make you feel happy. The Clearwater Concert at the end of the play has people out of their seats and dancing in the aisles. One of those aisle-dancers could be you this weekend. You will leave that theatre with a smile on your face.

The Final Toast

Who is that man in the Hat? Is he the one to thank for bringing theatre back to Tacoma?

Well, no. Not entirely. But I want to publicly thank him for bringing the Theatre Northwest blog from Good Idea to Reality. Joe Izenmania Izenman and Kevin FeedTacoma Freitas have helped us go public to the people who matter most to us- the ones who love Tacoma and what it has to offer. Thank you guys.

And thank you to everyone who has seen the play, written about it, told friends, or checked out the blog. Every bit of that helps put people in seats.

Theatre Northwest

Rehearsals started tonight for Theatre Northwest's production of The Final Toast. Why am I telling you this? Because I am painting the set, that's why. And it's a big deal.

Look at our blog and keep up with all the thrilling events. If you are a live theatre fan, the play will run at Tacoma's own Theatre on the Square (the old home of Tacoma Actor's Guild --or as some call it, Theatre All Gone) beginning February 13. If you are a Sherlock Holmes fan, it's a play featuring Mr. Holmes. If you are a Stuart Kaminsky mystery novel fan, Stuart wrote the play, AND he will be here, all the way from Florida, for opening weekend. We have even arranged a (free, open to the public) reception for him at the Lakewood Library and a book signing at the Barnes & Noble in Lakewood for Sunday, February 15th. See the blog for details.

Be nice to Izenmania

He broke himself today. When you ride your bike on icy streets without chaining up first, sometimes a broken collarbone is the result. Treat him kindly this week, but no big hugs for awhile, I think.

We all love Izenmania

Happy birthday Joe. You have been a thing of beauty and a joy to be around for 24.5 years. (first 6 months, not so much...)  We are all proud of you, and collectively your dad and I have a lot more damaging evidence of events leading up to the involved and informed civic leader you are today.

Love,  mommmmm

Artist, teacher, mom, theatre mutt. Forever optimistic that the parrot will learn more lyrics than papa papa papa who?
