Have Monday off? Volunteer at the UW Giving Garden groundbreaking event
The University of Washington Tacoma is installing a Giving Garden to grow fresh produce for donation to Tacoma's Rescue Mission's Good Neighbor Cafe. Volunteers are needed to help with building and installing four raised beds, constructing a trellis, preparing soil for produce, creating walking paths around the garden, and designing informational signs for our new garden
WHEN: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, January 19
WHERE: UW Tacoma, 1900 Commerce (meet at the Science Building at the top of the campus stairs)
DETAILS: Family friendly; refreshments and snacks will be provided; come learn how you can create your own raised bed garden!

|I was able to stop by for a little bit and get my hands dirty - WHAT A TURN OUT! That was so awesome to see. Even our four-year-old got into it with a little shovel. The site could have easily been 4 times larger to accommodate all the volunteers. In fact, there was so much interest that the organizers started a second site the same very day.|
